masonry           carpentry           woodworking

Picture
I only do work I can be proud of.

I am very particular about doing things right. Working alone allows me complete quality control.

I'm honest.

I respect your time. If I am running late to meet you, I will let you know. Once I start your job, I stay on it until it's complete.

I have about 25 years of experience in construction, primarily high-end residential. While most of my experience is as a masonry contractor and foreman (brick, stone), I have considerable experience in carpentry (specifically, finish carpentry and woodwork).

My approach is a bit different from most contractors. How? Read on...

My Approach

1) Initial Contact
I will respond to your call or text within 24 hours... usually much sooner. I will ask questions to assess your needs. I may ask things at this stage like: address, description of what you want done (photos may be useful), approximate value of the home, your plans for the home, etc. I may give you a nonbinding ballpark estimate over the phone first, before the site visit... so you have some idea what it might cost before we both spend time meeting on site.

2) Site Visit
We set up a time to meet on the job. Estimates are free unless I inform you otherwise at the time of scheduling. It is best that all interested parties are present. Everyone's questions and concerns are most efficiently addressed this way. At this time I may take measurements, ask questions to determine your needs, or discuss possible challenges on your particular job (see Job Examples tab)
I will look at your design. If you do not have a design, don't worry... I'm happy to help you create one.

Chuck J. in Loudon, TN "He analyzed the problems, explained in detail his proposed fixes and gave what I consider
      a very fair estimate"

Before I leave, we both have a clear understanding of how the work will be done, when I could start, about how long the work will take, and when you can expect my estimate.

3) Estimate
I calculate my labor, and any materials I will be supplying. As needed, I make sketches to clarify exactly how I will be doing the work. I will call you with a price, usually within a few days of the site visit. If we reach a tentative agreement on price, I can email a copy to you or bring it for you to sign when the work begins. You will notice that the contract is simply putting things we have already discussed into writing, but in addition it will include clear payment terms. I do not ask for labor payment up front, but in progress payments so you are paying for parts of the project after each part is completed.

4) During the Project
Once I start your project, I will be working 5-6 days per week (weather permitting) until your job is complete. I do not pull off of your job to do another job, no matter what it pays.
Communication is important. If I run into something unexpected (not reasonably foreseeable) that will result in an extra charge, I will let you know immediately.  If our expected completion date needs to be adjusted, I will let you know that as soon as I do. I strive to exceed owners' expectations. At the end of the project, I will verify that you are satisfied with my work, then I will ask for a review.

5) After the Project
If I happen to run into you at the grocery store long after the project, I will not have to avoid you. This is why I don't do "band-aid" temporary fix-type jobs. I do it the right way, or I decline the work.

Vince V. in Dandridge, TN "His quality of work is above and beyond. My friends and neighbors can't stop commenting about
it. I would absolutely use him again in the future"

Stacy E. in Fountain City, TN  "Rudy did a fantastic job repairing a botched window install. He removed the old window,
enlarged the space as necessary, framed it in and did a beautiful job on the brickwork, with excellent attention to detail.
It looks like it was meant to be there all along! He was polite, clean and neat, and trustworthy, as well as affordable. I
       would highly recommend him!"
